On January 12-14 the Indo-US workshop on Nano-Ultrasonics was held in Trichy, India.  The event was sponsored by international and Indian institutions such as Indo-US Science and Technology Forum (IUSSTF), International Commission for Acoustics (ICA), The Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP), Council of scientific and Industrial Research from India (CSIR), Indian National Science Academy (INSA).  This event was inaugurated by Dr. K. Trinath, the Additional Director of Naval Science and Technological Lab (DRDO), VIZAG. During the inaugural address the Chief guest highlighted the importance and applications of Nano technology and ultrasound and the benefits of this area of research to society.  Dr. Johnson, the conference organizer and chairman, explained the dynamics of the conference, while St. Joseph’s authorities warmly welcomed the participants.  The conference consisted on 15 Invited talks in the various fields of Nano technology and Ultrasound by international and Indian scientists. The main speakers included Dr. Silvana Martini, Utah State University, USA; Dr. Timothy Doyle, Utah State University, USA; Dr. Osvaldo Campanella, Purdue University, USA; Dr. Kambiz Pourrezaei, Drexel University, USA; Dr Vijayalakshmi, IGCAR; Er. R.J. Pardikar, BHEL; Dr. Vilas Thabane, Pune University; Dr Mahavir Singh, NPL, New Delhi; Dr Gardash Ramesh, IIT Chennai; and many more. Nearly 150 research papers have been presented in various aspects of the conference topic.
