Karin Allen received the Utah State University College of Agriculture Graduate Researcher of the Year Award for 2009 yesterday evening. Dr. Allen recently completed a Ph.D. under Dr. Daren Conforth in the Nutrition and Food Sciences Department at Utah State.
Dr. Silvana Martini is pleased to have collaborated on projects with Dr. Allen.
Karin has published several refereed papers and presented her research at national meetings. Her publication in the Journal of Agriculture and Food Chemistry describes the role of iron, probably as a ferrous iron-oxygen intermediate, in myoglobin oxidation.
